Overview
Safety Shoes Ohio operates two online storefronts—a B2B platform and a B2C platform—each with its own set of customers and operational workflows.
- The B2B website was built on Magento 2.
- The B2C website was running on Shopify (which Helix Solutions developed)
To streamline operations, Safety Shoes Ohio partnered with Helix Solutions to integrate their Magento 2 B2B site and their Shopify B2C website with Counterpoint, their point-of-sale and inventory management system.
Challenges
The client faced several operational bottlenecks due to disconnected systems:
- Manual customer/users creation and user management across platforms
- Inaccurate inventory levels due to system misalignment
- Time-consuming tracking of customer purchases and subsidy allowances
- High risk of human error across data entry points
- Delays in updating product and customer data across platforms
Identified Problems
Through our discovery phase, the following pain points became evident:
- Adding new B2B customers was a difficult process prone to delays and errors
- Tracking subsidies for employees required ongoing manual effort
- A lack of real-time data sync caused inconsistencies in inventory and order tracking
Impact of Challenges
The business experienced:
- Excessive time spent on repetitive tasks
- Operational inefficiencies that slowed down sales cycles
- Errors in inventory and customer data
Solution:
Helix + Magento 2 + Counterpoint Integration + Integration with B2C website
To solve these issues, Helix Solutions implemented endpoints to pull in data from Counterpoint and created a B2B module in M2 to work with those endpoints.
The integration empowered Safety Shoes Ohio to:
- Seamlessly manage customer data and subsidies
- Synchronize inventory, orders, and product information in real time
- Automate key tasks that were previously handled manually
Implementation Timeline & Process
The complete project took approximately 6 months, and followed a phased, collaborative implementation plan:
1. Built a brand-new Magento 2 B2B website
2. Developed and implemented the Helix B2B module
3. Created custom API endpoints to pull data from Counterpoint
4. Integrated Helix with Counterpoint and the Magento 2 B2B site and Magento B2C website
5. Created B2B module that used endpoints to track customer and product information
Team Involvement:
A project of this scope required a coordinated, cross-functional effort:
- Magento Project Manager: Oversaw site design and Magento development
- Helix Project Manager: Led integration architecture and implementation
- Technical Project Manager: Managed backend development and ensured data integrity
- Shopify Project Manager: Collaborated on the ongoing B2C migration to Shopify
Results: Streamlined Operations & Increased Efficiency
Since going live, Safety Shoes Ohio has seen measurable improvements across the board:

Conclusion
Safety Shoes Ohio is now equipped with 2 modern, scalable platforms – a b2b Magento website and a B2C Shopifuy website, that work seamlessly with their internal systems. With Helix powering the data layer, they’ve laid the foundation for sustainable digital growth.
